Scott’s 8 years of service on Australia’s Standing Committee on Economics saw him provide oversight of the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA), the Australian Prudential Regulatory Authority (APRA), the Foreign Investment Review Board (FIRB), the Australian Securities and Investment Commission (ASIC), the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (ACCC) and the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX), along with other review bodies. Scott has previously served as the Chairman of the Joint Standing Public Works Committee (PWC). Scott was elected Chairman of Counter Terrorism Sub Group by 26 participating countries. He also was a member of the Parliamentary Delegation to the United States of America and Canada on Energy Security, and was a member of the official parliamentary delegation to China by the Economics Committee.
